A dental exam is the first step toward excellent oral health. As a result of this initial examination, your dentist will develop your customized dental treatment plan, guiding you and your dental team as we progress toward a healthy mouth. 

You can expect the following services at your first dental checkup: 

• Your medical history will be reviewed. Make sure your dentist knows about your diet and medications, as these could impact your oral health and treatment.
• Ask your dentist any questions you may have about your teeth, mouth, or overall oral health. 
• Oral exam, including visual inspection of gum tissue and screening for oral cancer 
• If necessary, X-rays will be taken to view the root surfaces of your teeth.
• Comprehensive treatment plan with ongoing dental care recommended by your dentist.

After your initial exam and hygiene appointments, your dentist will craft your comprehensive treatment plan. Depending on the results of your initial exam, treatment may begin as soon as the next day.
